Yahoo! Messenger

just wanna share about our group meeting last night. we need to discuss about which type of questions we want to use for our educational website. last minute after Dr Baharuddin class, on our way to car park, we decide to have a discussion session through the Yahoo! Messenger... and we done it last night. personally, i think it's quite hard to discuss through YM because i've to type my ideas as fast as i can before i forgot about it. and another problem is, sometimes the sentence that i type will be wrongly understood by the other party. we need to type clearly the message that we want to deliver. because one sentence that we type can be read in a different way by the other party. different way you read, will be different meaning and perception. what ever it is, we still needs YM because we don't have time to make a face-to-face group discussion....

Planning Document??? DONE!!!

hohohoh.. i'm very happy today... because it's a holiday and i have completed several assignment!

Website Development Charges: How much does it cost?

i just finish my reading for website development cost. hmmm it's sooooo expensive!!!
now i'll appreciate my Dreamweaver skills.... hehehehe
okies.... here some article about web development price.

Malaysia:

for Malaysian, it's hard to get an an article about website price... but i have a forum that discuss about website pricing.. unfortunately... it's in Bahasa Malaysia (Malaysia Language)... here is the link:

Outside Malaysia:

I'm applying contextual learning in a journey to Nora's wedding!

yup. i'm applying contextual learning in a journey to Nora's wedding reception...! hehehe actually i'm taking a picture along the journey to my friend's wedding reception. a picture of what? of course... text picture... (TEXT IN MULTIMEDIA is my project topic). i'm taking an example the usage of text on our daily life... home.. workplace... and community. as we know, contextual learning helps us relate subject matter content to real world situations. these will motivate students to make connections between knowledge and its applications to their lives as family members, citizens and workers. so... that's what i do... here some of the example about text in our life... enjoy the journey!

Ticket please...!

"Kurangkan Laju" means Slow Down!!!
(it's a caution message. concise and clear. that all it needs)

Burger King... YummY!!! (logo)
Typography???

an example of advertisement. nice text. simple, contrast, concise, clear typeface...

To Nora: Be a good wife and mum ya!

18 March 2009

here another eduweb that i found. this web is useful for malaysian secondary students because all of the topic in our syllibus was in this eduweb. here is the link:

http://www.brainpop.com/

Brainpop offers animated movies that teach about topics in health, science, math, English, and technology. Each movie has an accompanying online interactive quiz.
well friends, unfortunately, it's not free... but you still can have a free trial... hehehe

It's interesting eduweb. Try it out!

Blogs: user’s voice on the Web

i'm back!!! hihihi hmmm dunno why today i wake up early in the morning, sent my mum to her office, and back home with a full motivation to blogging today... hmmm talk about blogging, nowdays, everybody know how to blog. and believe it or not, my dad himself have his own blog... surprise? yup! i'm surprise! because my dad is 50 years old....! talk about 50 years old... hihi this year he will be rich.. hahahaha

ok. serious. back to the topic. A blog gives you your own voice on the web. It's a place to collect and share things that you find interesting— whether it's your political commentary, a personal diary, or links to web sites that you want to remember.

What are blogs?
Web + Logs = Blogs???
A blog is a website where entries are made in journal style and
displayed in a reverse chronological order

• You write easily everything you want (without specialized knowledge)
• You are connected with other people (blogosphere)
• Primary textual, but no restrictions (photos, video, audio, etc)

Whatever you want to say to the world,
Blog can help you say it!

InsTrucTioNaL deSigN MoDeLs >>

There are numerous instructional design models such as:

  • ADDIE Model
  • ASSURE Model
  • DICK and CAREY Model
  • HANNAFIN and PECK Model
  • WATERFALL Model
  • RAPID PROTOTYPE Model
  • HYPERMEDIA Design Model
  • MULTIMEDIA Design Model
So many models!!!

Hmmm...
How do you know which to use and when?

to be honest, i'm just familiar with addie, assure, and hannafin and peck models only. Other model such as hypermedia, multimedia, and rapid prototype.... hmm i'm not very sure about all of these models... oppssss! SOry Dr Zaidatun....

for my group project, in a beginning we decide to use Hannafin and Peck Model, but after we discuss further on the other models, our final decision was to use ADDIE Model.

WHY???

2 reasons:
1) we are quite familiar with ADDIE model beside hannafin and peck (actually both of this model is almost the same if you understand it)
2) i don't know why, maybe just because addie is the most popular and basic instructional design model compare to other model...

wanna a notes about all of these models? i've several links here...

(The User’s Voice in the second generation of the WWW)
see you all again.. today.. i think i wanna talk about web2.0... hmmm let's see... did you know that right now, you are using one of the thousands web2.0 applications. yeah, blogging is also an appilication of web2.0...

What is the difference between 1.0 and 2.0???
source: Steve Hargadon, www.stevehargadon.com, steve@hargadon.com

Principles of Web1.0:
a) Reading
b) Receiving
c) Researching

Principles of Web2.0:
a) Contributing
b) Collaborating
c) Creating

Web 2.0 basic characteristics:
source:Francisco Llaneras Estrada on November 2006 from slideshare.net

• Applications used entirely through a Web browser (access info)
• Users own the data on the site and exercise control (manage info)
• Users are encouraged to add value (create info)
• Some social-networking aspects are included (participate)
• A rich, interactive, user-friendly interface (easy to use)

Ten Web2.0 trends that will have a profound impact on education:
source: Steve Hargadon, www.stevehargadon.com, steve@hargadon.com

1) New publishing Revolution
2) A tidal wave of information
3) A culture of openness
4) A culture of participation
5) The age of the collaborator
6) An explosion of innovation
7) The world is getting flatter and faster
8) The long tail - [i'm not sure about this point. Long tail? what is it about?]
9) Social learning moves toward center stage - [this point too... anybody help me...!!]
10) Social networking

Web 2.0 services:

Go ahead, Explore and Learn!

Assalamualaikum and hi all...

it's have been a long time i didn't update my blog. Sorry Dr Zaida... i'm a bit busy with a school's stuff lately.. But tonight, i'll spend my time special just for Web Development class... (-^)

Talk about an educational website, i've found 1 site that used games as learning process. For me, this site was really fun. i enjoy while exploring this site because i learn and play at the same time. The graphic for the games also nice to view. it just suitable for anyone to learn and play.

Good news for malaysian students, almost all the contents of this site was in our syllibus. so, i encourage all the SPM students, (form 4 and form 5) to go ahead! Explore and Learn!

The URL for the educational games site as stated below:
http://nobelprize.org/educational_games/

As i've mention just now, this site suitable for SPM students for malaysian. because it contains a subject that will be taken for SPM level such as physics, chemistry, medicine (biology), literature, and economics. Besides that, for my opinion all student/person that want to learn in less stress way, this site is just for you...

This is the official web site of the Nobel Foundation. This cool educational games was one of the component for the site. And just for your information, below is the Board Director of Nobel Foundation:

Chairman

Micheal Sohlman

Executive Director of the Nobel Foundation

Member

Gunnar Öquist, Professor,

Secretary General of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences

Deputy Member

Åke Altéus

Deputy Executive Director of the Nobel Foundation

Strength of the educational site.
hmmm ok... let's see.
  • first of all, of course, it's FREE!!! hahaha
  • second, FUN... it's a games guys.... is there anyone doesn't like playing games???
  • third..... mmm how about LEARNING WITHOUT STRESS??? just sit properly, move your mouse smoothly, click here and there, and...... Taraaaa you've just finish studying the topic.. isn't it cool...?
Weakness of the website.
I just found 1 weakness for this educational games... well... you have enough time to made a cup of coffee while waiting for the games to get start... oppssss!

so guys... i think i'll try to fine another educational site just to look around...and fine other interesting educational sites... hey... we should use internet for learning... it's 2009 now.. (^^)
